I had mine done 2 weeks ago. Well worth it. Here's the link to my gear thread in case you haven't seen it.

Get ready to have some fun with the upgrade. You will love it.

I haven't really hit on the car much, but from a u-turn yesterday, I'm 90% confident that the power of the gears will let 1st spin from pedal in any speed. Second seems to be a little more refined, almost between a "normal" gear ratio and a low gear.

Faaaaawk! Got the gears installed along with J&M LCAs this morning. 3.73 gears should be part of the Performance Package or maybe even an upspec option of that package from the factory. I love how the car responds, I wish I did this sooner. With hindsight being 20/20, 3.73 gears should have probably been my first mod. That's how significant the change is to me. Worth every penny of the $489 I paid.

And for anyone wanting a speed/rpm calculator, this one is the most accurate:

I used Fatboyraceworks, but it always tended to undercalculate what the RPM would be for a given speed.

I'm convinced the worst thing about the gear change process is that break in process. It's painfully to stay off of it for those first few hundred miles

ya, you want to avoid wot runs for a while. i know its hard to do. you want to make short runs letting the gears warm up then cool down. i did that for the first day, but then had to run on the highway to work the next, mine have been fine. then you want to change the gear oil around 500 miles.

My installers, (http://www.ringpinion.com/ outside of Seattle) who do nothing but gear work, were pretty insistent on it. You can find all sorts of resources online about it. A break in period generally consists of letting the rear cool down after the first 20 miles driven. Then no heat generating actions (long sustained trips, or hard accelleration), for the first 200 to 400 miles. Changing the gear oil right after the break in period is also recommended.

Never heard of the long break in period. Have had half a dozen gear changes on cars and break in period has been going easy for about a dozen miles. Also, never heard of changing the oil at 500 miles. I have never had ANY problems with gears over long periods of owning them. My tuners has also done thousands of gear changes.
