I cant wait. I have a 2012 v6 with the 3.31 gears. Next week its going in the shop for the 3.73 gears as well as new electronic limited slip differential. At the push of a button, the axle will lock and all power will transfer to both tires. I am very excited. This should be a huge mod.

What's wrong with the stock limited slip differential?

Default Help wanted

So this is the most up to date 2012 v6 gear swap thread I could find. Can anyone who just had their's done tell me what they ordered? I really want to make the change (2.73s make the 300 horses seem like they don't exist) but I'm not sure what I need to order. Americanmuscle.com has a couple drop down menus where I could add a gear install kit, the 8.8 rear pinion bearing, or even a Traction-LOK rebuild kit with carbon discs...is all this necessary? I installed by own CAI and cat-back (I know, it's easy..just saying), but I have no clue about the gears and I want to get it right the first time. A 'shopping list' would be great Thanks for the help.

You need the gears, oil and a way to install them. I recommend visiting a shop that specializes in mustang gears and ask. I was pleasantly surprised when I did that they had everything needed in stock and would do the install for under $500, parts, labor and warranty included.

You probably don't need all the extra stuff since your car is new.

So If Tucson, Arizona doesn't have a Mustang Gear shop would a dealership be a bad idea?

Do yourself a huge favor and be patient to find a place that specializes in them. The dealership us not one of those places. They can't even recalibrate your speedo after a gear change. This is something you want done right the first time.

You should ask v6 cannonballer. I know he is in Arizona and has had gears done.

+1, the install isn't hard, but you're going to need a tune when done.
