Default How to install resonators on the V6

OK I've questioned people on how to get rid of an interior drone or resonance in my 2012 V6 with Bassani axle back exhaust, and the consensus was that I should get resonators. I can't find much on what diameter the resonator ends I need and how to install them. One person says the V6's have 2-1/4 pipes, is that correct? So I need 2-1/4" inner diameter resonators? Or do I need 2-1/2"? Everyone says I need 18" long, so I see Vibrant resonators in 2-1/4" and 2-1/2" ends. I also wonder if I can just disconnect just after where the factory pipes meet. ( is that the X or H pipe?) Anyway, Can I connect a resonator there, clamp in on, cut the stock pipe whatever inches down I need and then clamp the other end on? I really don't want to go to a muffler shop, so I'd like to clamp the ends. Anyway does this sound reasonable? Will it get rid of the droning sound? Also I see pypes M80 resonators cheaper but they are 2-1/2inch diameter ends, so it depends if they fit the stock pipes.

I'd like to know this too, because I've yet to see anyone clamping their resonators in, all of them seem to weld in by the over the axle part of the mid-pipe.

I saw some Pypes M80 on Ebay (used) with clamps on the ends. I'm still trying to find out if they were on a 2011+ V6. The one guy said he got them from someone with a V6 but no idea what year or how they were installed. Seems like we might have to just try it ourselves, if no one else has... I'm just not absolutely sure it's a 2.5" resonator fitting (or 2-1/4"). When I get around to it, I'll take the exhaust apart at the stock X pipe and measure it. Busy summer right now, so might take awhile. I have threads on allfordmustangs.com and still can't find the answer.

I'd be interested in knowing if this helps the sound of an aftermarket exhaust. I've done quite a few bolt-ons already, but am very apprehensive about exhaust on the V6, because everyone sound clip I've heard sounds like chit.

Haven't had a chance to look extensively but I don't see a prochamber made for the 2011 and newer 3.7L v6. Do you know of one? I might consider it if not super expensive.

Hope people are still looking at this thread. I've let the issue of droning in my car go for awhile, and put the stock exhaust back on. I hate it, too quiet. Now I looked into doing it again. The pipes are 2- 1/4" diameter and the bend in the pipes start curving after 12 inches from the connection at the stock X-pipe. I'm thinking of cutting the stock pipe to where a 12" "cherry bomb" glass pack will fit before the bend in the pipe (I hope). I want to clamp them on so it's not permanant and I can re-fit the stock piece back in with a connector pipe or just a stainless steel connector clamp. Anyone have opinions on using these glass packs as resonators to stop the drone from the Bassani axle backs? Just hoping that these glass packs will stay on with clamps.
