Hey, if they want to add the 3.5L EB to the Mustang lineup like they did for the F-150, go right ahead and drop the 3.7.

I agree with your conclusion, although I'm not sure the 2.3 will be rated significantly better than the 3.7. The current 2.0 ecoboost is rated at 22/33 in the Fusion I think. The 3.7 is rated 19/31 in the Mustang.

Assuming the 2.3 is set up more aggressively than the 2.0 in the Fusion, and would naturally burn more gas anyway, its final rating should be between the 2.0 and the 3.7.

21/32 or something maybe.

Maybe they have found that the market for the coupe is expanding. I think the Focus ST is selling pretty well. My dealer just shook his head when I asked if he had any ST's to drive and said that he couldn't keep them on the lot.

I know I love this damn V6. It is an awesome driving car. Unbelievable for the price.

Maintenance on a FI car will be higher than a non FI car. I would guess most people will not think of that when buying but I do. Also resale on a FI car would take a hit (again I would think) because anyone who's buying a used FI car is buying it for the power it puts out and most likely the first owner bought it for the same reason and beat the crap out of it.

This might be true for the Lightning, Mazda3 or the Focus ST. The 64 Y/O guy up the street has an Ecoboost F150 and his wife has a 1.6 Ecoboost Fusion. I can just about guarantee he did not get either to beat the crap out of them.

And that's where we're at. The v6 makes a lower price entry point. Not everyone wants to, um, pony up the extra money and I doubt you see too many rental EB Mustangs around.
