2 Sets of Pirelli Tires Same Noise Problem
Both of our Mustangs came new with the same Pirelli P Zero Nero. First 10,000 miles the tires were awesome and quiet. Both times somewhere around 13,000 miles they became unbearably loud. Rotated every 5,000 miles.
What is a replacement tire that will stay quiet? I'm thinking Michelin Pilot Super Sport? Heck, I'd even sacrifice some performance for some peace and quiet on the highway.
Thanks

If you want to spend $400+ on each tire, get the Michelin PS or PS2. They are worth every penny.
If you want something thats proven to be every bit as good as the PS for half the cost, then look at Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires.

Tire Rack does no list the PS or Han Kook for my 18" rims; and the PS2 looks like it is going out of production (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...ting=S&tab=All).
How do ya'll fell about the quietness after 15k miles of a Michelin Pilot Super Sport?

I have a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's in 285/35-R19 on all four corners that I am very happy with. Quieter than the old Pirellis until the temp drops below 20, then there is a bit of growl. They have not fallen off at the inside and outside edges up front like so many other tires I have tried on this car under autocrossing and daily driving loads. They have more grip at 38 degrees than the old Pirellis did at 80 degrees, and do very well in the rain(garbage in the snow though, which Virginia seems to be giving me a lot of currently). This particular size is about as wide as you can go on the Brembo GT wheels, but you could go narrower or shorter for smaller wheels, and the cost would be minimized. I paid Tire Rack $295 per tire for these(in the ridiculously wide size), about $70 less per tire than those overpriced Pirellis, and got way more tire. That being said, they are a bit hefty at 31 lbs per tire, so not your best choice for straight line speed.

Screw ultra high performance tires, noise unbearable after 15k miles both sets. Bought Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus Grand Touring V rated with 70,000 mile tread wear warranty - and so quiet. Still soaring down the highway at 85-90, plenty of grip, slow down a little more when wet, not much diff when cornering dry, slightly less steering precision, but heck, lost precision after 10k anyway.
