Default New Gears at 7K miles

I was wondering if it would be okay to reuse the original bearings when I swap out my gears here soon. They only have 7K miles on them and I haven't really beaten up the car. I figured it would save me a few steps on the install process plus prevent me from having to purchase the install kit. I already plan to reuse the shims and I'll be using Ford gears to ensure I have an identical sized product gong back in.

If anyone has done this, please let me know. Also, if you've ever done the swap yourself, I'd love to hear about your experience. I have a lift and all the tools needed. I just have no experience on this particular job.

By the way, I'm going from 2.73s to 3.73s. I'm pretty damn excited!

i would install a new inner pinion bearing on the new pinion, this serves 2 purposes, 1 you dont have to take a chance on damaging it on removal, 2 if u ever intent to revert back to stock at any time, the pinion depth will not have to be adjusted as the stock shim is still pressed onto the stock pinion under the bearing. the rest of the bearings can be reused. the swap is pretty straight forward, the only thing you have to check is pinion depth to select the right pinion shim. i use the ford special service tool, but i am sure there are aftermarket tools available to measure this as well, alsomake sure u get a programmer so you can adjust for the new ratio

jwog666, I was going to have to pull the pinion bearing anyway. I don't want to have to guess at the shim thickness when setting pinion depth so I was going to reuse that shim too.

Let me know how the install went. I'm getting my 3.73s installed today, couldn't be more stoked! But I gotta wait a couple days to pick up 😐

Can the dealer do this job? Or would a performance shop be a better deal to go with?
