Default RE: Info on my 351 windsor

first two letters tell you year

first letter tells decade and following number is year of decade.

B=1950-59
C=1960-69
D=1970-79
and so on

so you have a 1974 block

third letter is Car Line

A=Ford
D=Falcon
Z=mustang
T=Ford truck
S=thunderbird
J=marine/indutrl.
and so on

the fourth letter "E" says the part is in the engine group (vs. body group or chasis group )
also if it has a letter "M" in this poistion it is one of the Mexican blocks

the four digit number is the actual part number

the AA is engine revision ( AA would equal vrs. 1.5 to us, where B would be vs. 2.0 )

so engine came out of a 1974 Ford
