Default Ford racing 351

While looking for an affordable crate engine to drop in my 4 banger stang i ran across the budget 351 from ford racing for 2600. It claims 240hp which is plenty for me; does anyone have experience with this engine? Im looking for something with a little power and something that will stay reliable for a good amount of miles. Also, is there a company that sells a kit to do the swap to 351 (pan, mounts, ect...)

What will i need to purchase to make this an efi engine, or would carb be better? sorry for any noob questions, and thanks for any advice.

It would be a good reliable motor for everyday use, and a decent platfrom to support substantially more power if you chose to in the future.

You would need wiring harnesses, and the brain from a donor car for the management, (expect to pay anywhere from 150-300 bucks for that) Intake, throttle body, injectors, headers, I would go with the Anderson Pro Pipe mass air setup since you are starting from scratch, and someone who can re-map your brain for the 351.

I hope I didn't leave too much out. But basically you get the idea. If you already have the brain and harnesses then scratch that, then your just looking at intake, throttle body, etc.

yeah, but this lazy 351 is putting out better numbers than any stock 302.

240hp and 340ft/lbs torque

It's also adding about 100 lbs too, so you would not benefit much in stock form. But you will be happy with a 351 block for whenyou do decide to build it.

yeah, i know its not gonna be much faster than a stock 302, but i think it would be nice to have a complete new engine that has the potential to be really fast. I like the price, and the fact that i wont be like the rest with a 5.0
