Default 1970 351 W heads

I'm planning to put a 351 in my 85 Mustang. I'm on a tight budget so I can't afford to get aftermarket heads right now. I have a set of D0OE 351 W heads that I've heard are some of the better stock heads. Is anyone else using them or know much about them?

By the time you get them ported, polished and flowing good, you will have spent enough to buy a
nice set of Aluminum Heads assembled.I got a set from the local speed shop for $700 with a little haggling.
190cc runners. 2.02 intake stainless valves 180 exhaust. Put on the classic classified, thepurists restorers
are always on the look out for these heads, as they were only on the 69-70 windsors, as the next year was all
Cleveland 351. Also the 302 heads will fit the 351W, just have to make the holes larger for the head bolts, a good drill
press will do a great job. There are lots of good used sb alum heads floating around at a good price. You can get good
money for the DOOE heads.

Look on parts for sale Hoolihan has a set of E7 heads for $200 , fresh rebuilt. those are pretty good flowing heads, the truck
also used e7t heads.

I would Not put E7's on a 351w. Yes they come stock on the later onesbut if you are looking for some hp for cheap use the 70 351w heads. The E7's are SH*T, They don't flow worth a crap even ported they're SH*T!!!!!!!! compared to the D0OE heads. I know a buddy of mine had a set of ported (230-intake and 180-exhaust CFM) D0OE heads, on a stock bottom end 302, in a fox body stang and ran and high 11!

I've looked for a while for some decently priced alumnium heads. I haven't found anything but the crappy knock-offs.

I went ahead and took the 351 heads to the machine shop. If I do the porting myself maybe I can get out pretty cheap. The 302 in my mustang had E7's on it, those ports are tiny!

Dont skimp out on heads man, you will regret it. Even the $500 ebay knock off brands are decent and will at least add somewhat power + looks.

yeah get those 70 heads ported with larger valve and they will flow great. I knew a guy that had the same heads just ported (NO larger valves) And they flowed 230 intake and 180 echaust. That head pushed a stock 302 into the 11's!

They flowed that good?I'm going by the machine shop tomorrow to see how things are going. The guy there said he'd see if he could put bigger valves in.

Yeah get some 1.94" intakes and 1.6" Exhausts. I am pretty sure this is as big as you can go.

But yes they will flow well when ported and larger valves!
