i have a 351 roller laying around and a 351 non roller bored .40 with flat top pistons, a comp cams XE-274-HR, a set of TRW .30 pistons with stock 302 rods with ARP bolts
now here is the question
which combo would work better???
1.- use the 351 roller with the .40 pistons the XE-274-HR and change the lower intake to re-use all stuff to call it a day?? (1 3/4 swap headers)
2.- get a 3.85 crank, use the TRWs = 393! buut will the stuff i already have still work?? (30lbs 75mm TB 80 maf intake)
3.- same as & 2 but with carburator
the only thing that keeps me from going 393+ is my stock t5, i think it would live borrowed time behind a 351, imagen a 393+
let me know what you guys think
thanks

First off I prefer carb all day.
I would use the roller block and stroke it to a 393 or a 408.
I am not sure I am reading it right but the way I understand it you are saying take the XE-274-HR out of the non-roller block and put it in the roller? If so you can not but a non-roller cam into a roller block.
Stock T-5 would not last long. Again I prefer a C-4, just my preference.
I guess it all depends on how much you want to spend and how long you want the car down. If you are looking for budget, just build the 351 flat tappet engine with your uppers and see what happens. You can always change TB etc... later.
Just some thoughts, good luck!

i like the idea of the stroker motor, but dong the "ghetto" 393W with the stock 351W rods and the 302 pistons results in 1:a very high compression ratio something close to or north of 11:1. and 2: a VERY unfavorable rod ratio, worse than a 347's.
personally, i like the 408, as it still has a (barely) longer stroke than bore, and gives you plenty of low end torque with enough oomph to rev to 6500rpm.
a torque healthy 408W could get away with the TB MAF and 30#'s but build it for torque, not rpm or itll choke itself.
its gonna still be worlds better than your 302 obviously lol.
