I have a 302 H.O. in my mustang, its nice to have one but, i was thinking about swapping it out with a powerhouse. I got the cash to do it, I was thinking of building an improved 429 Cobra Jet smallblock for it. Forty years ago it it came out of the factory with a stock 440 hp. It will fit but, with major relocation of some parts. Or would a 351 stroker be the better choice? The rearend is getting either 3.73s or 4.10s I was going to take it to the strip hoping to run under a 10. Would either of those be a good choice?

BB swap is a lot of work and youre going to ruin handling, shock towers, and be limited in trans choices.
a 351W swap is a good idea, it adds about 100 lbs to the front, but you can offset it with removing the AC, power steering, and adding a tubular K member with a arms.
longtube headers will give you a bit of a pain, its either Bassani or a custom set.
youre going to need a cowl hood and a bunch of other supporting mods and other assorted BS, but all in all, its well worth the swap.
351W > 302
*unless its a DART 302 block :-)*

357W build for about 3 weeks (436rwhp 402rwtq) taken out for my Factory Five '33 Hot Rod
baby boy due 20091203, cars kind of on the back burner (he's gonna help build it).
408W carb'd in the works (block and rotating kit already here).
then youre talking about a Cleavor engine. 351W or 302 with 351C style heads. the 429 SCJ had semi-hemi style heads as did the 351C.

221, 260, 289, 302, 351W are all in the same category, although only the 351W is a Windsor block. however, they all share a bunch of the same components: heads, cams, cranks, water pumps, timing covers, etc.
Cleveland style engines are 351C, 351M, 400M (and if you REALLY want to get technical, i guess the BOSS 302. it had C style heads, but its a 302 block. albeit with 4 bolt mains on caps 2,3,4. obviously the BOSS 351 was a cleveland).
big blocks range from the FE style engines (390, 427, 428) and the 460 style (429, 460). the 427 SOHC was a derivative of the FE style block, but had no lifter bores and a bunch of added/removed oil passages.
