Default 351w stock rod strenght

hi, i getting ready to do a 351w swap into my 95 gt and i want to keep the budget down where i can, but i dont want to cut too many corners (contradicting i know) and i know i can do a 393 with a 4.030" bore, stock 5.956" rods, and a 3.85" crank, BUT how much power can the stock rods handle???

im looking around 450-500 at the crank. with the setup im going to run.
thanks in advance

Truck rods are stronger than car rods. You need to change up to ARP rod bolts and resize and use 351W truck rods. They will handle 450 to 500 HP but do not go power adder and do not try to make peak power past 6000 rpm.

They will run fine if you stay within those suggestions.

if you have to get truck rods and then have them re-sized and pay for good rod bolts you might be better off getting a Probe budget I beam instead they are strong then truck rods. But it is all in what you can afford that is for sure
