Default 351windsor compared to 351cleveland

i want to do a 351 swap into my 90 gt and i have a 351 cleveland out of a 73 mustang. should i rebuild this motor (is it worth it) or should i get a 351 windsor and rebuild that for the swap? What are the differences? Any info would help thanks.

351C > 351W

just know that a cleveland swap is NOT the easiest thing to do.

but worth it.

also, look into building a Clevor.

what is the difference between the swaps? (302efi to 351w carb vs. 302efi to 351c carb i heard the windsor swap was pretty simple) can u use 302 motor mounts for the 351c and with the 302 front accessory brackets bolt up to the 351 cleveland?

If you are a college student and you are on a budget build the Cleveland. Stock 2V Cleveland heads with a blowl tidy up and a good fresh valve job will make and easy 380 HP and 400 Ft lbs with a small cam.

There are swap headers available along with a 351M/400 Truck oil pan and pick up for a 1980 to 1986 F150 will get you hooked up. Stock 302 engine mounts bolt right up and so does the T5, the AOD and the C4 and the C6 for Windsor engines. There are plenty of used 4 Barrel aluminum intakes online for the Cleveland 2V heads. So just a basic rebuild, no after market heads and a set of swap headers and you are good to go. Just use the accessory brackets that cam with the 1973 Cleveland Mustang along with alternator and power steering pump and you are good to go.

I have a 2V headed Cleveland in my 1990 Mustang. Heads are ported. Hyperutectic KB pistons with stock crank and rods. Heddmen hedders and 3 inch exhaust. Promotion T5 straight cut face tooth 5 spd. It runs 10.74 @ 128 MPH on motor only. 9.8 to 1 compression and drive it everywhere. Car weighs 3250 wih driver.

Cleveland swap is crazy easy. No different then dropping in a Windsor.

cobra pretty much nailed it, it is no harder to drop in a cleveland then to drop a windsor in, you still need the same amount of swap parts, lik a 28 ozflywheel, swap headers and pan, which you would need for a windsor swap also. i also drive mine just about daily weather permitting of course! if you need pics check out my supermotors page itll show ya just how well a cleveland fits, i run power brakes, and a stock hood! a lot has changed since those pics but youll get an idea of how itll look. good luck
