Default Hot 351W ticking- switch to solid lifter

http://www.jasperengines.com/pdf/Cla...%20hp%2008.pdf

My 351w flat tapet hydraulic (Jasper 365HP class II) idles ok without loud ticking cold or hot.

351W ticks loudly following long interstate runs when driving around town.

Headers have leaked off and on. Have JBA 3/8" flange headers now. I don't think they are leaking. Any ideas to detect header leaks?

Have rollers on the rocker tips.

Hydrualic valves are one of my suspects. I have adjusted them cold and running. I am considering changing to solid lifters since there are so many hydraulic lifter variables. What is the harm caused by installing new solid lifters on a used hydraulic cam shaft???

I don't mind that cam will appear slightly smaller to valves after switch.

With any luck, installing solid flat tappet lifters on my hyd flat tappet cam shaft will produce some ticking w/ cold engine but reduce ticking in hot engine???

It will tear up the lobes on the cam.

I guess my cam profile too aggressive for quite lifter operation.

Rather put up w/ tick than switch to put milder cam.

Any heads up switching to roller lifters?

I know some rollers are noisy also.

In perfect world I would like 375+ HP and quite lifters.

Cam profile dosent normally affect noise cam type however will plus there is no quiet operating vlv train just less noisy ones!

Default Head scratching.

Still slowly trouble shooting rpm related ticking noise.
Seems riding clutch affects noise.Wonder if pilot bushing can make noise?
Seems valve train noise not loud underhood; for some reason noise get amplified in cab...hmmm.

Oil temp ok.
No oil aeration.
Head temp ok.
Getting VDO PI next week.

My speedo cable is making speed related noise off and on. I don't tighten speedo cable nut into speedo; wonder if that can cause noise...or need another new cable???

I once offered friend $100 if he could find squeaking noise while I drove...kept my $100. Later found it was shifter bezel.

centerforce centrifugal diaphram.
the throw out bearing has made noise couple times but not recently.
sometimes the lower pointed clutch rod clicks when push clutch; maybe i can rig a bushing on pointed tip or get a tighter spring. i bought generic spring set from parts store and they are weak.

sometimes i do stupid things like finding squeks, rattles and ticks....

next ride depends on ground hog.

still got the 100 bucks...lol....
