trading a stock 302 to a na 408 (351w)

youll make more power with a dished piston and a smaller chamber, the TFS valve location is better than the AFR's, AFR also flows their big heads on a 4.125" bore so the 4.030" numbers are lower than advertised, not impressed with the quality of their product, would rather have a set of hopped-up TW heads for the money...
oh, and magazines are about the least reliable source ever, so dont believe what you read, you find anyone here that runs a HCI 302/306 that makes 350rwhp, you let me know.
and 30#'s on a 408" motor are really pushing it... go with the 42#'s

well i looked up my srp pistons and they will work on tfs heads. here is a link to pistons ( http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SRP-206057/ ). what tfs heads would you suggest? looking for torq flat tappet cam. i want to work with the short block i have. i will o-ring the block and run a brass .080 head gaskets. that wpould put me at 10.5.1 on a 72 cc chamber.

why is everybody a wise-***? at no point in time have i ever came off that way. as far as i know in order to run a thick *** head gasket you have to o ring the block. mabe i'm wrong, with a .042 head gasket i'm at 11.5.1 as far as the flat tappet. whats wrong with flat tappet? I know roller has a faster throttle response and a couple hp but so what. in order to go roller i would of had to use a retro kit with dog bones and drilled and tapped my block then spent 3x more on a cam and other crap. the small loss in not going roller is not a big deal to me. i was going to o-ring the block anyways in the future might go fored induction with a larger exshast chamber. please understand i started this thread to get a better understanding of the 351w conversion. their is no way in hell i wont make my 450hp goal with a 408ci with decent cam and a set of afr 205's. i'll use a power adder for anything i feel i'm missing latter. 1.1 hp per cubic inch ....thats nothing. if their are guys on here that 408 with huge cams with high lift and $3,000+ on their heads and they are making 500hp their has got to be something wrong there.
