351w cam selction issue please help!!

Default 351w cam selction issue please help!!

i have an 82 notch that i swapped a 1989 351w into wit gt40 heads but when i was doing the swapp i had a 302 i had blown up so was going to use the cam and valve train out of seeing as it had a z cam roller rockers well thats when i found out just tapping holes into the valley doesnt work!!so due to money from the whole build i was forced to leave the hydraulic flat tappet truck cam but now i want to swapp it out and have 2 options and this is where all you come in i have a retro fit cam with the stock 5.0 lifters and 1.6 roller rockers cant fig out the specs on either cam or i picked up some lifters with the bridge and convert the heads to stud mount and put my 1.6 crowler rockers on it suggestions???sorry for the long story

Try a few of these out next time.

From what I can decipher, you chose to not drill and tap your block to fit the 302 dogbone. If you want to run roller lifters, you're going to need to get the retrofit lifters with the connecting rod in between them. Since you're starting with a non-roller block, this will require you to get shortened pushrods. Summit or Jeg's can help you out with this.

As far as what cam to use, your options widen once you use the roller lifters. It's still up to you though to choose. What kind of powerband do you want? Are you looking for more low end grunt to get you going, or high end power to keep you going? Keep in mind though that the stock 1.6 rockers won't be able to take much more than .550 lift.
