An old racing buddy found his next racing project in a storage unit. It was an 85 Mustang with a newly built "302", or so he thought. He didn't need the v8, as he races the 4 banger class at our local dirt track. He contacted me and asked if I would have any interest in the newly rebuilt motor. After driving out into the country to have a look at this 302, I realized he had found quite the golden egg. After a quick look, it was apparent that this was no 5.O. He told me to make him an offer, which i did. We hooked the boom up to it and off it went into the back of my truck.
Once I got it home, I pulled the starter and ran the block ID #'s. This 5.0 turned out to be a 351w from a 69 Torino GT! Jackpot! I pulled the intake and the oil pan, and found that this motor had just been put together. All internals are new..new cam, bearings, valve springs, etc! This cheap, not wanted motor is now the start of my 88 lx/gt build!
Now, the question is, do i leave it as it is? Or do I pull it apart and start the 427 stroker I always wanted!
