I am trying to change my gears. I have done this before but it has been a while. I got the pinion flange off and now I am trying to pull the pinion from the housing. It is stuck in there....do I need to remove the front bearing or should I just hammer on it until it falls out??

Heat the bearing up with a torch for about 15 minutes, then beat the **** out of it. Only bad thing is you might destroy the pinion but if you're putting a new one in no big deal.

Do I need to remove the oil slinger before trying to take out the pinion?

RE-install Old pinion nut(only if you have a new one)(so you dont screw up the threads)...Big Rubber mallet(or BFH)....hammer away.it will come out....just have someone in back to catch it when it finallyflys out....

OK well the threads are already screwed...oh well. I decided I don't have a big enough hammer so I am just gonna wait til tom to get a bigger hammer....

Its out... I had to use a sledge but it finally decided to come out.
