5.0 HO Engine
i found an engine that claims to be a 5.0 V8 HO 302 roller cam EFI engine complete with wiring harness and computer for $600. im not too familiar with these engines and wanted to know what are key characteristics i can look for when looking at the engine to really determine if it is a 5.0 V8 HO 302 roller cam EFI engine. The owner still has the engine in what he claims is an 88 mustang. any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS

RE: 5.0 HO Engine
Honestly do you think a person is going to tear apart a running motor in a car it came stock with just to prove its a roller cam? Honesty has nothing to do with it. Now if he going to pull the motor out & apart & sell it piece by piece, that would make more sense.

5.0 L=302CID, so thats confirmed, as for roller cam i would make him take out the cam. if he doesnt or sways about the idea hes not a very honest seller. learned that the hard way..

RE: 5.0 HO Engine
I can bolt an HO name plate on my lawnmower, that doesn't make it an HO. You can't tell if it is a roller cam just by looking at the cam itself (especially if you don't know how to identify an HO motor) Like Matt said the firing order is different on an HO motor, But that is not a guarentee either, the cam can be changed. You canpull the intake and see if it has roller lifters and the spider retainer, not a guarentee either, you can put these in a non HO motor. Only way to tell is to look at the casting #'s and identify it that way.
