I believe piston slap is the term used for when the cylinder is over bored and there is too much piston to wall clearance and the pistons slap inside the cylinder. What you are talking about is an issue with PTV (Piston To Valve)clearance, which is when the valve will hit the piston and put a 1/2 moon cut into the piston.
