Does anyone have a picture or diagram of solid points to jack up a classic Mustang (a 1966 is what I have). I have a diagram for the 1999-2004 models, and would like to have one for my classic Mustang.

I odn't have a diagram, but I know you want to jack it up on the frame rails. Also there is a nice grame peice in the front of the car you can reach (not sure if the front valence gets in the way, mine was off . So yeah just the frame rails, front and rear.

Jackstands under the front frame rails about 6" back... roughlyunder the pedals.
Jackstands under the rear should be on the axles.

the pinchwelds are also a sutiable jacking location just like your late model

You question was onlifting points, not jackstand points, correct? When I lift the front off of the ground I place a block of wood onthe jack under the front crossmember just below the radiator. For the rear I put the jack right under the rear diff. Obviously, if I were changing a flat on the street I'd use the stock jack and factory lift points on the pinch welds.

Just this past week, a guy died here in L.A. when a car he was working on fell on him. No doubt, it was improperly supported. That said, there have been a few occasions when I was under the vehicle on properly place jackstands and thought, "we sure as heck better not have an earthquake right now."

Be careful if you jack the car up on the pinch welds on the rocker panes. They bend really easily.

also, if you're removingwheels (which is the case most of the time you jack it up), go ahead and slide those wheelsunder the car as an extra measure. It could make the difference in an an injury vs. a death if you do happen to have that earthquake while you're down there.
