Default shorter oil filter?

i just bought this notch and i dont know if its was a converted 4 cyl or what, but i cant get the normal ph8a fram oil filter to thread on cause the sway bar is in the way, there was a shorter napa filter on there but napa aint open on sunday so i had to go to schucks and search for somthing that looked the same thread size and i found this k&n that probably a whole inch shorter than what im suppose to have and probably aquarter inch shorter then the napa filter that was on the car, i seems to have threaded on and isnt leaking, will having this short filter cause any problems?

You're lucky the fram didn't fit . I don't think having the shorter filter will cause any problems. My dad's mountaineer with the 5.0 has to use a shorter filter because of clearance also (and that's how it came from the factory).

SSP mustangs use the shorter oil filters because of clearance issues with the oil cooler and sway bar. Does your LX have an oil cooler?

mustang II's also had a 1/2 quart filter (although a regular one fits fine). as stated though, the frams are junk. i must admit i have used them my whole life until i saw them all cut open and i will never buy another one.

whatever filters cross over with a PH16 fram filter, or whatever fits on a 1994 cobra will work perfect for you.

ph4 or ph16 i think is the shorter one, some places call for it on the reg 5.0 and 4banger aside from the cobra, its also supposed to be the ssp one
