I took my 07 to a shop to get it dualed and the mechanic said that since the gas line is right where the other exhaust would go that it would ruin the line and he wouldn't do it. Is he just being lazy or is there some truth to that?

I just had a shop yesterday tell me the same thing. I actually went to three shops and all wouldn't do it for one reason or another.
Wow, where do you guys live? And more importantly, what kind of crappy mechanics are you dealing with? I feel sorry for you.

I've contacted 8 shops in my area (Fresno, CA - Pop: 500,000) and EVERYONE of them said it was a piece of cake to install a dual exhaust on a Mustang. They could either fabricate one or do a kit install. 6 of them would even cut the bumper for me as long as I had a template. Prices ranged from $150 - $250 for the whole job.

So I'm going with a shop that only works with performance exhaust and they are charging me $150 to install my Pypes V6 Mid-Muffler system next week.

Good ole NE Ohio...good exhaust shops and mechanics are pretty much a thing of the past here. It seems most are too lazy or just don't want to be bothered. A good shop around here would be the exception, not the rule. They all want paid but don't want to do anything that might require skill. They'd rather soak the senior citizens around here for non essential maintenance or inflate the pricefor fixing their cars.

Figured I would repost my FRPP thread in here for future reference.

Well I installed my FRPP V6 dual exhaust kit tonight.

The 90% of the install was a breeze. The bumper cutout was easy, and you dont even need to be real maticulous with cutting because it has some cool metal flanges to put over the cut outs. But a few things to note about the whole thing.

1.) You have to cut out both sides of your bumper. The exhaust has 4" tips, so in order for the flanges to fit, you have to cut out your factory hole larger to fit the flange. No biggie.

2.) The mufflers sound great, but I think they need some time to break in, in clip when the engine is rev'd you can hear how it sounds like it is sucking back in.

3.) Midpipes. Wow. Hardest part of the entire install was trying to get the midpipes over the axle. Normally it wouldn't be an issue except for the fact if you are doing it in your garage like I was, you dont have alot of room. I had to put my car on 4 jackstands, pretty high up and put the car in neutral so you can turn the driveshaft. Without the driveshaft being able to turn, you can squeeze the midpipes into place. Unless you have a lift, it will be difficult.

4.) Installing the x-pipe was a cakewalk. It says to give yourself 1.5 inches when you cut, I would recommend 1.75 inches, at least no less than 1.5.

Overall i love how it sounds, I like the look also. I think it will sound 10 times better once they break in, but sounds great now. Keep in mind when I installed my GT take off, it took a good 1-2 thousand miles before it really started sounding good, so I am anticipating these will sound better and better everyday.

Ok sound clip, It is 1am and I am exhausted, my wife was reving the engine and it pitch black outside so don't complain about the video, its a crappy vid with crappy sound, but you can hear it. Anyway I am going to bed, I will post pictures and better video soon.

Hi everyone. I am new to this site, and don't know much about it.. But I have a few questions to be asked.

I have an 08 Ford mustang V6.(Pony Package)

I would like to convert my exhaust into dual exhaust.
What would you guys reccomend?? What would be the closest sound to a Mustang V8?

well,I think that the FRPP kit sounds closest to the GT, but there are others that sound better than a GT, I heard someones SLPs with a Y pipe and it sounded nice, i'm sure it would be alot better with an H or X pipe.

Another FRPP dual conversion person here. Click on the link(s) in my signature for the sound clip. It did not come with a heatshield for the gas line. btw.. If I was an issue, I am sure Ford would have provided a heatshield with their dual conversion kit.

Link in the sig. I used a digital camera and it sounds like a pop in the end but there is none. Its a corsa axle back with x pipe (dont think it matters but i put onan aftermarket set of axle hops as well).
