Default Took on an '06 GTO

OK --- here is the setup:

Almost a half mile of perfectly straight 3 lane wide road - "Closed Road" because of a Memorial Day" event, and my cousins buddy is in charge of roads for the town -- This was a "CLOSED COURSE" race and not technically a street race --- I do NOT condone street racing where there are innocent pedestrians or other drivers...

My cousin calls me and says it's on .. His 06 GTO against my S/C Stang -- Challenge is accepted!

3 runs - 2 from a dig at 0-100, and 1 from 45 - 100 : I couldn't wait
Stat's:

2006 GTO 6 speed 6.0L 400hp V8 monster - stock except for DR's
2005 Mustang Automatic - 4.0L V6 Supercharged - with mod's - see bottom

From a dig at the light - I get out of the hole quicker and faster ( thanks to the 3.73's) I got about a half car lenght at him until I hit 2nd.. after that the s/c really takes over and never saw him after that - almost 2 car lenghts !!!

From a dig at the light (2nd run) - same jump and same turnout --- 2 cars at the finish!!

From 45 to 100 ... Pretty much even until the stang downshifts hard (about 60) and then game over - a little over a half car lenght - Stang on top

My cousin could not believe it !!! He said he made every shift perfect and never missed - but could not catch up and the stang just kept pulling him all the way down. Even more amazed -- was that the stang just sounded pure " bad ass mean" , He loved the way it screamed through the exhaust. He just kept saying - that is one sick car! He was in utter shock for a few hours on how a 6 could rip a 6.0L v8 GTO so bad -- LOLOLOL

So --- Notch an '06 GTO for me ... Next is the heat exchanger and 2-4 extra #'s and lets see what this pony can do --- YYYEEEAAAHHHH!!!

Cool street setup, too bad the DC area sucks for setups like that. Doh. The best I can find is a parking lot for a vacant office building. Given your closed street setup I think this definitely dosent count as a street race.

Now, about your kill............holy crap!!!

Ya, holy crap is right. You took out a GTO. Wow. Right on man, way to go!!!!!!

Thanks -- it was a perfect setup -- couldn't have asked for more... I'm running 9.5#'s of boost. Could wind it up a little more to 10#'s but don't want to take tooo many risks until I go for the next mod...

I am going to just run the larger exchanger for a few weeks and see how the car is handling and do a quick dyno to see if any power increases due to the larger exchanger (cooling effect) and then take it from there. Hopefully then run 12.5#'s with the larger exchanger and see if it remains cool or not while tuning and see if need to add some more cooling effect somewhere for it to run safely. Then again if you run boost of any type -- Be ready for the possibility of the unimaginable to occure - so it doesn't completely surprise the crap out you - lol. I'll be running a '03/04 Cobra heat exchanger instead of the stock Vortech.

Rich, thats awsome! Just watch that you don't use too much boost and kill your engine, or rear end.

http://www.modernracer.com/history/p...s2history.html

2006 is the last year for the GTO. Great performance car -- but lacks style. 3750 also is not all that heavy when comparing it to the Chryslers - LOL... 3750 is not that far from a GT either...

@yur -- I'll only up the boost once I see how the new exchanger has things under control--- but I got to admit .. .Boost is more addictive than any drug out there LOLOL
