The stock limiter is 113mph. And no, you couldn't sue Ford. I believe that the max speed limit you'll see in most places is 70mph...if you're going over that ANYWHERE, you're breaking the law and "driving at excessive speeds," hence if the driveshaft goes, it's your fault. Funny how a thread on dyno results turned into a driveshaft debate!!!!
since when has doing something illegal ever stopped anyone from suing! Look at the burglars that have successfully sued people because they got injured breaking in!

well 113 is perfectly safe for the driveshaft, and you have to flash the ecu to get rid of that limiter, which is altering ford's product, which will make it very, very unlikely that you would win a lawsuit. there is a reason we have a governer, and its partly because of the stock tires, but also because of the ds. If you buy a car that is limited by a governer because the tires are not say z rated, you flash out the governer, and do speeds that are not safe for those tires...when your tires come apart at those speeds and your car rolls, you will probably not win anything in court. You could, but it's very unlikely.

in today's crazy, over-litigated court system.... you could probably get a multi-million dollar judgement...
crak crak, get back on the subject........ okay and since you guys insist on carrying this on and since it's not worth setting up another thread, I'll throw in my 22 cents here.
Ford installed the speed limiter strictly to keepteenieboppers andinexperienced and or careeless driversfrom whiping out at speeds that make the car sufficiently light enough due to aerodynamic lifthence major traction loss to risk a serious catastrophe! That's it.
They didn't install the speed limiter to keep the bloody drive shafts from breaking or blowing or what ever.
The few that have blown their shafts were probably throwing too much torque at them and they were faulty shafts to begin with until mid to late 2006 when Ford wised up and added the correct parts to prevent failure under any circumstances where stock power ratings are concerned. They did this of course as it was a liability issue to them. That's the only reason they make such fixes.
Speed has nothing to do with drive shaft failure. Period.
As for law suits, that's up to the lawyers and courts if/when the issue arrises.
If my drive shaft blows up on me and causes me to wreck, I will sue the crap out of Ford for it regardless of how fast I was going and I'll bet any one of you that I will win!
Those drive shafts are not designed to fail and if they are designed that way, that's just plain criminal negligence on the part of Ford!

you guys crack me up. sue this sue that. when my drive shaft blew it was on a mustang dyno. it was after the x install. and yes the old shaft was just pinned and a poor design. lots of things need to be taken into consideration. marty beaustang for instance has 410s so his shaft spins faster and quicker. its hard to say about the failer. it could happen to anyone. my car had been dynoed probubly 10 times at least when it happened. for the afe CAI and for my custom tunes. so the shaft already had stress on it. the fastest i have had my car on the freeway was about 95 and that was an accident and almost got a ticket. after the install i have been to the track a few times for EE to give you guys some numbers. im pretty much done as this is my DD. all you guys talking about going 120 or better are just idiots in my opinion. i love my car and the exceleration it gives me to leagle speeds . do a search on the shaft write up its here. leave ilduce alone he has great #s and i know doug from bchips will fix any tweaks. im just glad none of you fast drivers live near me.

Thanks guys for all the compliments. I'm still new to this FI stuff, so that's why I make posts like this. I know those numbers are good, but I'm trying to see how good. I never meant for this to start a driveshaft debate. If anything, I was trying to get input on the results and see what others had to say. Thanks to those that did!!!
