Default V6 to Pony Fender Emblem fixture - Get em straight the first time EDIT:PICS

I put pony emblems on my V6 that didnt have the alignment
holes in the fender. After debating how to do this and get them
even and straight, I made a template out of 1/4' " thick plexiglass.
It has a cutout for the emblem and two pins that ride on the door
jam gap. Just measure 13 3/8 inches down from the fender/hood
gap and mark with tape. Place the emblem into the template and
afix it with some tape. Then remove the backing from the 3M VHB
tape on the rear of the emblem. Place the template on the vehicle at
the right height and keep the pins against the jam gap. The emblem
is being held fixed quite tightly and hovering just above the paint
surface. Once all is aligned, press the emblem into place all at once.
Peel the masking tape from the emblem and template. Done fast and
straight. The pins extend from both sides of the template so its right
and left handed by just turning around.
PM me if you would like to use it and pass it along to another Forum
member. Its no use to me now and it oh so slick at putting Ponies on.

Well done. Do you have pictures of the completed project? Ooops, I didn't see your link until I hit the enter key. The pony emblems look good!

That is a super idea!

I'm just not ready for that particular mod yet (after this winter)...

Maybe you should market that idea to Ford. My Pony emblems from the factory are slightly crooked IMO. I could have done better just by using my mk.1 eyeball!

Nice idea BTW

Yea, the OEM holes in the fenders are kinda big for the alignment
pins on the emblem making them impossable to get on the same
everytime. I looked at hundreds of Ponies until Ifound ones that
looked just right to measure for my fixture.

My local dealer put mine on for $30.00, which included cost of emblems, in their body shop while I waited.
I was out of there in 20 minutes. Said they were within 5mm on both sides.

Saying and it being so are two different things. 5mm = .197 thousands of an inch,
nearly.250 or a1/4 of an inch. Thats way too out for me.[:@]That would bug the heck out of me.
OCD
And they charged you. Man what a racket them Stealerships have going.
