Does anyone know if the Shaker 1000 head unit stereo is a simple plug and play into a 05 and up mustang that didn't come stock with the Shaker 1000? Reason I ask is because I sold my Shaker 1000 head unit that was professionally unistalled to someone that didn't have it stock in his newer mustang and he said it wont work and it gave some some kind of error message (I think he said cd error). Now my radio worked on the way up to the place that uninstalled so I was just curious to know if anyone had any answers. Thanks!!

i believe its wired into the cars computer which may be the cause. if the car wasnt originally rigged for the shaker, then i doubt it would work. all i did was install an mp3/aux adapter and my whole dash cluster went haywire. dealership said the radio is rigged to the cars main computer and anything i did to the stereo would affect the car. i'm sure a better designed adapter would solve that but i think you can get the point about the way the shaker is wired to the car.
Okay thanks Sancho. But it is possible to install the Shaker 1000 head unit into a mustang that didn't have it stock right? It just needs some other modifications? Otherwise why are there a lot of people wanting to buy the Shaker 1000 radio if they can't.
as far as i'm concerned, yes you can install it. as long as you have the proper wiring though. try the audio section in this forum. it might have some better answers for you. good luck.
I wanted to have my Shaker 500 upgraded to a 1000, but the guys at the Ford dealer said it was all new wiring harnesses and crap. Told me it really wasn't worth it. Then he basically told me if I wanted to add a sub and amp, have it done professionally, and theywouldn't give a hard time with warranty issues. So I had Tweeter put in a JLAudio slash series amp and JL sub for like $1100, sounds awesome. Really, the stock 500 is pretty good sounding, but just dosen't have any low-end. Those "subs" in the doors are more like mid-bass/mid-range, if you ask me.

Im guessing its totally different wiring harnesses and not just plug and play because how can you hook up a Shaker 1000 head unit that outputs to 8 speakers when his car has a stock radio and only has 4 speakers and is set up to output to 4 speakers. This is funny because this guy bought my Shaker 1000 from me on Ebay and said it didnt work which it does but he is unintelligent and hasn't figured it out. He said he took it to a ford out of warranty shop which is an aftermarket shop and it read cd error. So he filed a Paypal claim which didn't go in his favor so now he is trying to get a chargeback from his card issurer. So now I have to give this information that I had to give to Paypal all over again to his credit card company to defend myself AGAIN. Such a pain in the A** during the holidays!! LOL
