i'm almost positive you can't swap bell housings as of yet. I don't know why no one is making a universal bell housing adapter of some sort for the 4.0 or the 4.6.

There is money to be made there.

A Six speed would be sweet but i read it won't benefit the 4.0 @ all as far as gas mileage and performace.

Well I'm thinking 4.10 gears after Vortech, and an overdrive 6th gear.
Ford Motorsport has a few differents 6spd gear ratio set-up.

I love to cruise in the 1900rpms at 80mph and have the grunt of the tall gears from 1 to 5.
If the 6spd fits somehow, I can make this happen.

I agree, a custom bell housing is badly needed for manual and auto.

Well I just learned from another thread that the input shaft is smaller on the sixer.
So much for my 6spd idea.[8D]

dont swap unless youre goin to a 5.4 or a 460 or 427 or something like that. just a regular old 3v gt wont be that special. you might as well just trade up.

well if you have read the entire thread you would know that you can come across very good deals for the 4.6 3v engine

and for people who like to do their own work, a 3v 4.6 engine in there car is something special

+1......for the price, it is something to think about. i would personally go F/I but i'm sure there are those that want the larger (Wards Ten Best) 4.6 engine.

You can get a 6 speed from D&D. Direct bolt on for the V8 engine. That and like 4.30 gears, and your king haha

I've seen an LS1/2/6 swap into a S197 v6. I thought it was sweet.
