Default Attention 4.0 MFers!

As the S197 section continues to grow, we have seen an influx of new members. While growth is a positive thing, it can have a negative impact as well. Lately, we have been conversing via PM's with regular members who are concerned about our section. So we wanted to offer up the following suggestions for all MF members:

  • All S197 sections are for technical threads that are relevant to S197 Mustangs. If you want to write about off-topic stuff, it should be posted in Off-Topic. If you want to plan a regional meet, it should be posted in one of the Regional Sections. If you want to sell a S197 part, then it should be posted in one of the Classifieds Sections. You get the idea.
  • We have received complaints about threads being made in the 4.0L and 4.6L sections that should have been placed in their appropriate sub-forum (drivetrain, handling, appearance). That is why the staff is moving threads and leaving "MOVED" tracer threads. If you are making a new thread, please take to time to consider if it is being posted in the proper section. If we move one of your threads, please do not be offended - we want all members to find relevant threads in the appropriate section.
  • Bashing of different engine/platform/era Mustangs will not be tolerated - especially in the S197 Tech sections. If you want to spout off, then you should do that in Off-Topic.
  • Signature sizes have gotten out of hand. The maximum photo size is 500 x 250. You can right-click your mouse on your picture to see what size it is. If yours is too large, then please resize it.
Thank you for contributing to Mustang Forums!!! Our members are what makes this place a great resource for the Mustang enthusiast.

Sounds great and no more ugly tracers for members who post in the wrong sections! (never seemed to work anyway as it still happens all the time)....J

Well thought out changes, especially about platform bashing, as it occurs both ways, V6 towards V8's and V8's towards V6's. Glad to see a 0 tolerance policy. Thanks to the staff here for the work they do.

Cheers.

totally understandable. i think the reason so many non-topic threads are created in one section is because members feel more comfortable or "at home" in that section and rarely venture off. especially when they interact with other members in the same section frequently. JMO. maybe if there was a side bar list on EVERYPAGE with one click links to every section. that way its easier and faster to jump back and forth. kinda like the "New Vendors" list on the right side of this page.....just a thought. thanks for your good work.

Default November 2008 UPDATE

Well, now that the 2010 Mustang has been unveiled, it is quite apparent that the new model is a close family relative to the currect 2005-2009 S197 Mustangs. So, the staff put their heads together to determine what changes were necessary for the S197 Section.

You'll see that the Handling and Appearance sub-sections for the V6 and GT have been combined on the main S197 page. The old sub-forum marked as Drivetrain Performance has been renamed as V6 Technical Discussion (and one for the GT guys too).

Now, the main V6 forum is for GENERAL discussions about our favorite V6 model (not Off-Topic), and the V6 Technical sub-forum is for all tech-oriented posts. The new changes should make it easier to navigate around here.
