1.) you didnt go anywhere near 170 mph, if the needle said it, its off by about 30 mph
2.) you are a ****ing moron to drive over ~100 mph on public roads.
I've been over 100 numerous times. I'm pretty sure that none of these guys are doing over 100 in a traficy area. You are over reacting and need to calm down. I'm also pretty sure that most of the people on this forum have been over 100 more than enough times. I know some people can be stupid and do it on a road where its dangerous but most(I HOPE) will do it on a straight road for a mile or so. AND don't tell me I am underestimating on how stupid people are, I know but honestly dude, I bet you've been over 100 on public roads.

For those that have an xcal 3 and want to remove the speed limiter:
1) With your tuner plugged in, go to "Program Vehicle" and then "Install Tune"
2) Pick the tune that you are currently running or are installing.
3) Then when it asks you "Adjust Options?" select "Change"
4) Select "Saved Options"
5) Scroll through the options until it says "Speed Limit," then turn it to "Off"
6) Save the options, then reinstall your tune.
7) Go fast! (But safely)
This is the answer i was looking for.. thanks... now when my brother ask me if he can borrow I'll say yes sure, but before let me change speed limiter 60mph .. lol ... now i need to buy an aluminum driveshaft to test it out...

for a jetta to hit 175mph it ouldtake probably 500whp. and you will get nowhere near 500whp with a stock turbo.
i hate to break it to you dude, but you did not go 175. ive owned some very fast cars in my (short) life and it takes an assload of power to hit that.
my trans am would hit 170ish mph while n/a but it was putting down about 360rwhp, and even with 881rwhp it took nearly a mile to hit 180mph.
my 03 cobra would hit 170ish and didnt really want to go anymore and that was with 430ish-rwhp
both cars are more aerodynamic than that brick of a jetta.
OT but where in AZ are you Fazm?

Now that's a drive haha. I'm out in Wittmann...well no now I'm in a hotel in Surprise (damn house fire) haha. I lived out around Speedworld. Actually I think they are having a American Muscle showdown this Saturday. Some 8, 9, 10, and 11 second cars and such. Should be pretty cool you should check it out.

not a fan of speedworld, never been able to hook up there. i go to firebird
Speedworld was right there so it's easy for me, and it has a Motocross section which is the main thing to me haha. Never been to Firebird but I've heard good things, I was going to do some AutoX out there a while back but had to cover a shift at work.

i was on the I 15 here in so cal, coming back from a friends house at 2 in the morning, no one on the road but me and a dodge neon..the base one not srt...
he was behind me, then in front of me then to my left then to my right, circling me. he was like a buzzing little fly with his flat farty pipe bigger than a coffee can. he got next to he and did the horn thing to signal a race, i stomped it just after he pulled away and left him in the dust! i hit 115, and sure enough i hit the limiter.
havent tried it with my CAI and tune from bama but im scared too, dont like maxing my car out, i feel its a safe car but there is so much strain on the engine, i just dont want to do it.
