My speedo only goes to 120; reading the speed beyond that from the odbii system was how I was able to read 145 on the dyno.

Dude...stop...seriously.

First, none of those mods are going to get you anywhere close to your 175 mph. Add an extra 300-400 hp and maybe...MAYBE you could give it a try...but I would not recommend it.

For instance, when Shelby was doing tests of the GT500, it took them multiple laps to attain 171 mph. Getting beyond that takes a TON of money.

Your mom's grocery getter with a fart can and some stickers isnt going to go 175, or 150..not even 140. MAYBE 125-120, which is confirmed by automag testing.

I have been following my old man to tracks for forty years now and know what it takes to get a car up past 150...sadly, I must call BS on your story.

Let us just imagine that you hit 125 and the spedometer was 50 mph off (ok, that is a stretch, but bear with me)...wake the hell up! If you want to live to see 18...slow the hell down. If you do not value your own life, have some consideration for everyone else. There are two ends to repeated street racing (especially at 175 mph): a) you die b) you go to jail. Pick one.

You'll have to forgive me since I am legally blind but no matter how many times I read the first post I can't see anything about a jettas top speed

Same here.

There is no way you got to 170+ though. To put it into perspective, the C5 z06 has 405 hp, probably weighs less than a jetta, and is definitely much more aerodynamic and it tops out at 176mph. To achieve that in a jetta you would need a 500hp beast, not a DD grocery getter.

i wouldn't lie about this and i know what it takes to go over 150 i have a eclipse spyder gt 5 spd and all it would do is 139, we have a 79 malibu showcar, street legal with 900hp we drive it to tenn for rod run everyyear, some of u might not believe my claim but thats ok.u act like it takes 500hp to hit 150 thats bull because i had my stang at about 120, another stang was at like 120 and cobalt went around us flying it was gone in a second the driver a good friend said 155, it is possible to hit 175 in a jetta nearly stock. im not gonna make a video that fast again but i will get a video of 150 when it warms upto prove some people wrong. im not on here to start an argument but i just dont like to be called a liar.

You can get a tune and a CAI combo from VMP for $450 shipped. We put one on my neighbors car and it is nice stuff.

I searched, but could not find my dyno numbers. I did mine before and after a CAI/tune with only a GT takeoff (at this point)...I now have FRPP duals and dont expect to pick up anything else.

I cannot remember exactly, but bone stock pull average was 176HP. With canned tunes (Diablo) I peaked at 195HP I believe...torque flattened out too, very nice for a canned tune. I settled with my Bama tune at 188HP as I liked the way it drove better. It really shifted the torque curve to the left.

As for speed? Top speed? Who knows...dont care. I have a wife, kids and a strict "no boyfriend policy", so i prefer to stay out of prison.

As for the 1/4, I turned 15.5's stock (4 times). After the CAI/tune I moved it down to 15.1@90...I was a bit disappointed. Then my old man popped in the drivers seat and ran a 14.78@93, and a 14.80@93. That is a hell of an improvement.

I will hit the track again soon now that it is cold (but I am where it is hot...long story).

The car FEELS tremendously faster than stock. Allot of that is shifting improvements...the firm shift is just awesome. The lethargic rev and throttle response is gone...the car is just perfect IMO.

FYI, not that I see huge difference between brands, but I run an S&B CAI and Diablo tuner with a Bama torque tune. Across the brands, a 20HP gain is achievable.
