Doesn't the Powerhouse turbo have extremely vast gains over the X-Charger though?

Yes it does. That's the case with any turbo in comparison to a supercharger.

YEA? Well maybe we didnt mention it because this thread is not about the powerhouse. We simply think that the X is overpriced

And before you come back and say the thread isnt about the cheapefr 2500$ superchargers either, well it was brought up to prove the point that the X is overpriced

But the new intercooler should narrow the gap

Can you guys stop? Is anybody here confused about why I made this thread? If you want to argue, take it to another thread. Scratch that, take it to the Honda forums. I've been there, they whine like babies too.

Lol my apologies NuclearMuscle. Anyway, on topic, I am going to get the X intercooler no matter what, just not sure when. It's an exciting upgrade, and anyone with the X should be interested, sooner or later. It's too bad we're in the economic state that we are in right now, I think we'd have more interest.

Here is a little bit posted by nav from a thread back in October of 2007 that talks about the gains of the previous, un-polished draft version of the intercooler:

Quote:
...
Now for the good news, we tested it anyways to see what the gains and temps would be to see if it is worth pursuing and the answer YES. We saw a 37 rwhp gain and I believe it was a 44 rwtq increase with the 2.6 pulley on the car. The inlet temps never got above 128* and this was doing multiple back to back pulls with less than 5 minutes between pulls. Just long enough for Doug to make some adjustments and hit it again. With the 2.6 pulley we could only get the boost to 11 psi ofr two reasons, the first the cooler itself lowers the boost due to the restriction and second the parts stores did not have a belt short enough in stock to keep the belt from slipping some. The tensioner was just too loose so there is more to be had here, probably anther psi but not much more I think.

The results with the 2.8 pulley [were] great also, I believe we saw a 26 rwhp gain and 33 rwtq gain but the same problem with the belt we could not even get to 8 psi boost.

Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me!

So, the x-charger, which is made by a small company with almost no advertising that uses a full eaton/magnuson head unit with a custom fab manifold for a 6-cylinder engine costs more than a supercharger using eaton rotors with the rest of the set-up probably made by a third-party that makes similar parts for several other models of cars for 4-cylinder car? Really?!

If you are confused about why the x-charger costs more, then I make a challenge to you: find another turn-key supercharger kit made for an american v6 w/ intercooler for $2500. When you can't the penalty is you have to research how much the parts for those $2500 turn-key kits costs the final seller compared with what it costs Dave for the x-charger. Then, maybe, you'll have the beginning of an idea of how a) our modern economic system of supply and demand works and b) how running any business works.

When you figure all that out do everyone a favor: don't ever post again if all you plan on doing is threadjacking. It's rude, disrespectful, and nobody likes you for doing it. Right or wrong, you should have started another thread. It's called ETIQUETTE. Look it up.

Amen...

You guys can argue pricing all you want, it is what it is.

If it's too much, just find something cheaper that you like better. Me? I'm enjoying my X every darn day....and bring on that intercooler
