View Poll Results: Do you want to get the Intercooler?
Is there more maintenance with an inter cooled unit over the standard?
yes because now you have added a cooling system with a pump and reservoir like your radiator. so you will have to fill it and from time to time check it like any other cooling system you would have. but it should not loose fluid unless from evaporation but since it is a closed system it should not. it will be the same basic system like the saleen sc you install a heat exchanger in front of the radiator run 2 hoses from it , one to the inter cooler and on to the pump then from the pump to the inter cooler via the reservoir. the pump will be 12 volt so you will have wiring and a fuse. its a basic set up and i am sure Dave will have great instruction on it.
Would an inter cooled unit be just as safe as a daily driver?
i would say yes because i am using the cali kit with the 3.0 pully and 91 gas and have over 40 k and 3 years on mine plus i have a dyno tune that was done as a hybrid due to me using the AFE CAI. i used racers edge tuning to get the 282 and then sent the tune to Doug and he swapped the auto shifting peramiters for his. so i have Doug's great shifting for the auto and an aggressive cali tune done by a local shop here. ( i caution you that his is rare as each tuner has a special tweak up his sleeve and the tuner was cool enough to send Doug his tune raw so he could tweak it. of course the tune was locked when i got it back as it should be) and the only thing i have done was change the idle pulleys about 3 months ago. he inter cooler will just make it that much more stable
I have tossed up the idea of trading in for a GT, throwing in a 5.4 V8, or putting on an x-charger, and I just cannot for the life of me trade in my stang, I get too many compliments, and I love it too much to do that. And there is just something exciting about having a v6 with a supercharger that can throw down with the v8's
keep the 6, anyone can make a fast 8 it takes vision to make a fast 6!
Also, do they have a rough price for the X-E?
hope this helps

oh yea like Marty said. Dave is picking up his 07 v6 at the CARB center in Diamond Bar California this morning. it went threw 7 test and passed them all with plenty of room to spare. the car as tested was the mp90 with 3.0 pulley and inter cooler.
next week Doug is coming out and he and Dave will be spending the day with the car. doing dynos and tunes for the system. he will have a library of tunes for the kit multiple pulleys and i am sure other tweaks!

I thinks that impressive. you have to remember what your comparing...its 42% increase at 5 psi. You cant compare a 4.0 engine to something half the size and think its goinf to put out more than the 4.0 mustang.

Yes, I realize that it's a tiny motor, but those numbers are not impressive at all. You can put a GT take-off muffler on a 4.0L to get that rwhp, and let's not even discuss the torque number. I guess some folks are willing to spend just under $2,500 for those kinda numbers.

plus look at the kit. its a tiny 62 eaton not the larger 90. the kit does not supply the injectors or spark plus like Dave and from the looks of it it is a prey easy fit. the clearance issues on the 40 were a pain. and all of the aluminum manifolds and adapters Dave had to make to make it fit . no wonder no one else makes one its a pain in the ass.
good job Dave now lets sell 101 LOL

Since this thread keeps harping on price, allow me to clarify what I said -
Regardless of the percentage increase, spending $2500 to get only 179rwhp and 149# of torque from a 4-banger import at 5psi seems like a HUGE waste of money, at least IMO.

"28hopup" Im not trying to harp on you....just trying to explain my thinking. you are comparing actual total hp and not hp gain. it just depend on what people are starting with. I started with a V6 Mustang but found out I made a mistake not getting the V8. But its to much trouble to sell/trade in the v6 and then the money i would lose after upgrading the V6.
