The only way I could think of getting close to that would be heads and cams. Then again, why are you looking for that much horsepower specifically? There's a lot more to making a car fast than horsepower. There are Civics out there with 200-something horsepower beating on Mustang GT's.

my goal of 255hp is before the driveshaft and gears . I just thought that 45-50 hp at the crank for under $2000 bucks is verry respectable in addition to anything I do after the crank as a seperate thread.

Ok anyone have any input on any of these ?
headers or shorty headers. ?hp
throttle body or throttle body spacers seem to be good for 5hp

C&L Intake w/ Bama chips 93 octane tune
FRPP Dual exhaust system w/ X Pipe
Steeda UDP's
Screamin' Demon Coils
Ebay or JBA headers

Thats basically all the HP adds you can get off a N/A setup w/o nitrous..

Throttle bodies are useless, unless you get the zabtek one but even that is iffy..

There are other things than can help Accel/Top speed other than HP adds such as:

FRPP 3.73 or 4.10 gears
New aluminim driveshaft to shed weight
T-lock for better traction
Tockio shock/struts w/ lowering springs for a stiffer suspension setup along with LCA/UCA's for less wheel hop.
Wider/stickier tires for better grip off the line..

The list literally goes on but yeah you get the point..

If not 10hp what do you think it is worth hp wise ?

I can see it freeing up some hp . engine drag is more than most people think.
If you believe that increase,
I would get a Throttle Body Spacer
thats good for an extra 20HP at the crank.
I always wondered who really believed all those
claims for HP increases form products such as
a chunk of aluminum with a hole thru it or the
stainless steel Turbonator airflow disruptors
that go in the intake airstream to disrupt the
airflow (bad idea).

supersixmotorsports.com has heads and cams for the 4.0, but I don't know if you'll be able to gain that much horsepower from them NA.

I am trying to find that extra 4-5 hp one add on at a time .
Most people would not want to spend $200 BUCKS on 5 hp but 5+5+5+5 adds up fast (or slow) depends on how you look at it .

Bolt-ons don't work that way. After installing a CAI and tune, bolt-ons like headers, exhaust, and UDP's will only free up a small amount of horsepower.

For example, say you have a 100% stock car. Then, you supercharge it and are making 275 horsepower. After you supercharge it, you install a set of headers and net 8 extra horsepower. If you went back and installed the same headers to an unsupercharged, 100% stock car, you will not gain 8 horsepower.

Basically what potato is saying is in order to get the full amount of HP out of an N/A vehicle, you need the full list of supporting mods.

In order to obtain the full potential out of these mods, you need to have most of the other mods installed as well.
