Default Best CAI+Tune to get?

Well I just got lucky and got offered a Job for the U.S. Census takers... It's paying really good so I'm going to get some duals and a CAI+Tune put on the car.

What is the best CAI+Tune to get for our cars? I've heard from some people to only go through Doug at Bamatunes. Is his the best for our cars? What CAI+Tune gives me the most horsepower for the money? I'm looking to spend around $400-500 on the combo. Whats my best bet for that price range?

And if I get that 87 economy tune for the long drives can someone explain what that does? Would I still be able to see more power coming from the car if I ran the 87 tune? I'm planning on running the 92 octane tune for the most part but what is the difference between the tunes?

Bamachips, Brenspeed, VMP, and Alternative Auto are the popular mail order tuners for our cars. If you only have $400-$500 to spend, you will probably have to get the VMP cai and tuner combo. If you want to save up a little more, you can get a JLT or C&L intake. I think I paid $625 plus shipping for my C&L cai and tuner combo from Bamachips.

Does anyone have stats or numbers on the VMP vs. C&L vs. JLT?

I could probably fork out the extra money but I'd rather not..... I hate spending money

C&L is for looks.. and is may perform less because its aluminum... and it gets HOT (i have one..).

If you have an automatic, I would go with Bamachips for the tune.. and the JLT for the CAI. I'm not sure if Bamachips sells a JLT though.

you are correct, bama only offers the c&l and tune combo. Brenspeed offers the jlt with tune combo.

you could always buy the intake from brenspeed and buy the tuner from bama, which will still include 3 custom tunes.

I bought the JLT intake from stage3motorsports...$209 and it was free shipping.

I then ordered the tuner from doug w/ the 3 custom tunes (400 + 10 for shipping)....so far it's cost me $610, and well worth it.
