Default Best axleback setup for a value?

Howdy,

I've already got a dual exhaust setup on my '06 with an H-pipe. I can't find any insignia or labeling on the mufflers, so I'm assuming they're nothing special. The setup gives me a decent sound, but I was wanting something more. I'm a college student, so I don't have much money to spend, but I was looking at Flowmaster mufflers. I'm not sure where to look. I'm looking for some deep sound. Anyone have any ideas? I can throw in pics if needed.

Thanks!

pictures might let someone on here id your mufflers, going from there you can figure out what would be a budget upgrade muffler set for you.

The mufflers are just some stock mufflers with 2 1/4" tips. Nothin' special. According to the guy at the exhaust shop, the H-pipe is the only thing making the noise. He suggested Magnaflow Bullets, but I have a friend who says Magnaflow sounds a tad ricey.

Any opinions?

These are GT takeoffs. Do your mufflers look like this?

If you don't mind me asking, what is your budget? That would help with suggesting what exhaust to go with. Also it might be better to wait and save up so you can get the sound that you really want. I'm in college too and I held out for a while so I could get Borla Stingers because I met up with another member from this site and heard them on his car and knew I had to have them. Just something to think about.

This is a tough question mostly because it's a matter of taste. See, when I got my duals installed the man who owns the shop says the GT takeoffs are the best for the dual conversion, and that means something from him since he's a Magnaflow/Flowmaster dealer. He said (in his opinion) the magnaflows and flowmasters on the 6 are too raspy. I told him I liked the sound of borlas and he agreed, but he also made sure to remind me how expensive they are. So if you're asking about "bang for buck", you've probably already got the best set-up

There is no real best axleback for the value, it is all about your preference which differs from everyone else's on this forum.

Search up youtube for mufflers and research prices.

Idk about other brands but I recently put a Flowmaster Axleback on mine and no it doesnt sound too raspy, it sounds incredible. The videos you see of these on youtube just dont do it justice. Mine never makes the decel popping and gives my car more of a v8 rumble, I love it!

I've heard the magnaflow (which i have), flowmaster, and gt take offs (ordered from most expensive to least). they all sound good but its a matter of prefence like everyone's said. Flowmasters are loud and have a deep rumble at startup but can on occassion be raspy above 3k rpms. magnaflows arent as loud but have an even over all tone. GT take offs are alright as well but don't have as deep a note.

JBA's are decently priced. not the loudest but definitely a good throaty muscle tone
