HIDs?

I just bought my 2006 Mustang V6. I was looking to do projector headlights, but after looking through a lot of threads from you guys, I decided not too because I read they didn't last long. SO.. I decided to just simply go with some pure white 6000k's for both the headlights and fogs. 1) The mustang headlights look like they only have 1 light bulb, where as my old Altima had both a high and low bulb. My Altima had H1's... What does the mustang require, a H13?? 2) If i get HIDs, does that mean that the highs would have to be HIDs too? I heard it isn't good to have HIDs in the high beams.. 3) What brands do you guys like for HIDs. I was thinking XenTec's.. Thanks for all your help, Tom

Never heard of Xentecs so I can't say whether they're reputable or not. Ours are H13s and will require a Bi-Xenon kit so you can use both low and high beam. I went went Retro-Solutions and am extremely satisfied with my kit, check'em out they're a site sponsor as well and offer a forum discount. You won't really need to use the high beams as much with HIDs so IDK if that eases your concerns about using HIDs as high beams but, there shouldn't be a problem...

1 H13 or 9008
2 most physically move the bulb inside the reflectors
aiming point with a magnetic solenoid for the mechanisim.
Turning on and off HIDs for low to high beam just dont promote
long bulb life. Its just not good for them. So they move the bulb
from the low beam focal point of the reflector to the high beam
focal point when you select high beams...

and msee what the opinions have been in the past.

personally putting a HID bulb in a housing designed for
incandescent filiment bulbs just dont work so well.

The Ford OEM HIDS for the 09s fit and work well...
And they fit 06 S197 stangs...

I thought about going with the Ford HIDs. That would be the only way to go with HIDs, in my opinion. But I decided I want the Halos from American Muscle instead. Better look and a lot cheaper.

+1 on going with retrosolutions. I got my 6000k bi-xenon kit from them and very satisfied. Just send them a pm and they will have no problem helping you out.

Hi Tom, your relatively a local to us, we are in CT!
Congrats on the acquisition of your new ride.

1) H13, also known as 9008
2) any proper bixenon kit will work as low and high beam, which is all we carry for that reason
3) not going to comment with the exception of saying that there are three brands/generic kits we hear more people complain about through emails.... this is one of them. The choice can be better made for a kit with quality, longevity, and an actual warranty that is upheld.
