Talking custom aluminum intakes for the 4.0

well we just finished flowbench work on the factory manifold and it is a great manifold for factory and mildly modded engines but for serious power it is lacking in the mid to upper range.we are going to be making intakes from aluminum for these motors soon.to read more about it go to THE OTHER mustang site and look up CUSTOM ALLUMINUM INTAKES WHO IS INTERESTED it is in the tech forum.lots of questions already anwserd and i don't want to do it all again here.too much wasted time doing it all twice .sorry .if after you read the other posts and still have a question then by all means post it on this thread and i will anwser it.thanks alot i hope this doesn't offend the admin of this site but i would rather be building intakes than talking about it on two sites. r&d and material is expensive and i want to get one finished for track testing in the spring .it won't take that long to build but the track is closed till then.i could sell them after just the flowtest but i want to be sure they perform properly first. no group buys, period. built on order one at a time.won't be cheap.be sure you need one first.50% down.NO REFUNDS,NO RETURNS .the price is not set in stone yet but it will be over a thousand dollars.this is a serious piece of equipment and takes alot of time and expense to make for a small market place that is why after 5 yrs in production no one makes an intake for this car.i am taking a financial risk with this so please don't complain about the price.if you don't like it don't buy one.i am only doing this as i see alot of people talk about intakes but not do anything about it .i'm gonna try.i am a fabricator/welder by trade and my friend mike owns a superflow 600 bench and has 40 yrs exp. in motors ,porting
building etc.he is also a ford nut and runs a 32 austin bantam with a 342cid ford that goes 8.20's at 162mph.we have the skill to do this but it will not be cheap.and yes i have built manifolds before.thanks

I know C&L just finished an intake for the GT 05-2010 4.6L and it's around $750. So no, they are not cheap. It requires a tune when installed.

Will the one for the v6 need a tune as well?

You may as well post a link to the other mustang site since most people won't know which one you are talking about. There are several and none of them are as active as this one (Although one is more technical which is nice).

well the other site is the collective .i hope this is allowed as i heard there is some friction.anyway i hope to make it available for a decent price but for a handmade piece it just isn't cheap.i may offer a cast alluminum version if there enough call for it but the molding cost is $5000.00 up front and about $100.00 a piece to pour and then machining
costs aswell.so for now it will be handmade aluminum one at a time.should be about a month from the time one is ordered to delivery.sancho805 ,thanks for the compliment, that intake was made for my buddy mikes racecar.(the flowbench operator)

derfoo i am pretty sure it will need a tune.unless it takes the info from your cai and then it shouldn't matter seeing as how the intake is after the cai.hell i just build intakes,i'll leave the electronics to the rest of you!lol

i will make them as long as people want them. it will work with a n/a motor aswell .my motor is n/a and it will be the test mule for the intake.it will however work BETTER on a f/i motor.like i said it won't be track tested till spring anyway.thanks for your interest.

You just need to go to www.mustangcollective.com - the other site isn't blocked now, most of the friction of the past has been eased. Gary has done a lot of work already and there has been a lot of discussion in the thread.
