Default exhaust melting my bumper?

I literally just noticed as I was washing my car yesterday. I just recently put on a mac axleback (4" tips) and I guess 4" is a little to much and has been slowly melting my bumper without my knowing ... Is there anyway to stop this from getting worse? Im worried its going to start looking really trashy. Im getting duals really soon so I have to cut the other side of my bumper and don't want that side to end up melting to. If I got a GT or GT/CS bumper would the problem be fixed?

Damn that sucks bro hope you can get that fixed and i think the car would look better with the gt bumper rather then cutting your v6 bumper but still got a nice lookin ride.

Wow I've never heard of this issue before, granted there probably aren't many guys like us running 4" tips on the stock V6 bumper. If you don't want to buy a whole new bumper you could look into those FRPP plastic bumper cutouts, that should protect the bumper from melting. I just looked around a bit to see if you can buy them without the whole catback kit and didn't find anything, but its something you can keep your eyes out for

Some exhaust tips are too close to the bumper, causing them to melt. It isn't the exhaust or the tips per say, it is the placement of the tip.

I have pypes w/ a 4" tip for my muffler, but I have no problem with my bumper melting because I made sure i got it positioned not too close.

I had that problem when I put my pypes MM system on. It was just me not paying attention to what i was doing. I had the system a little off causing the drivers side to melt a tad bit. Got back under lined everything back up, looks good and no problems at all now.
