Anyone have a problem with the shaker 500 system ejecting mp3 disks?
From time to time, my shaker 500 stereo seems to have trouble initialy reading an mp3 disk. This generally happens when the disk is first loaded, either when i physically put the disk in, or even when the disk is simply selected by the stereo. It comes up with an error that says "Bad Disk" and ejects it. I can take the disk out, immediatly load it right back in, and it will play just fine. Usually this only happens with mp3 disks, but i did have it happen once with a store bought, pre-recorded album. That made me wonder if its a more serious problem. Anyone else have this problem?

Check and make sure that all the files on the CD are MP3s and not WMA or anything like that. I wasnt paying attention and accidentally left a couple of WMAs on the CD, and every time it got to those files it would spit the CD back out. When its only MP3s it seems to work fine.

it happens to me every now and then.... its nothing to worry about and it is not a serious problem.... its happened to me since day one when i got the car and its been and a year and everything is still functional

This might help you - depending when your car was built - they have a service notice out on the Shaker systems.
I coudln't figure out how to attach a PDF so I saved them as jpegs.

Hey,
Yeah same thing has happened to me once or twice, not really concerned with it. I've had some other funny things happen to the unit every now and then, once it would only produce bass and no treble/voice, and I've had it act like it's muted before. Every time it's only a matter of turning it off and on and it's fixed so I figure it's not worth the hassle trying to get it fixed. Later.
RE: Anyone have a problem with the shaker 500 system ejecting mp3 disks?
I've never seen the problem on mine. Of course, I've only made six MP3 CD's so far, so I'm not sure if I've ever ejected one. A sample size of six for number of insertions probably has no valid meaning.
By the time I've listened to all 1500 songs stored on the CD's, I'm ready to go through them all again.

My Shaker will take the MP3 CDs, but if I turn the car on with an MP3 CD selected, it spits it out. I was wondering if it was a problem with the disc or with the radio, now I know.

...Whats an mp3 disk?[sm=dontgetit.gif] I tried looking in the manual, but it's not too informative. I do have an mp3 player and have been considering the fm transmitter to go with it, leaving me to wonder why one would need an mp3 disk? and i seriously don't know what one is, so if some of you would explain I'd appreciate it.
back to the topic though, i haven;t had any trouble out of my shaker 1000 but have only had it but 2 1/2 weeks. I do however have a 99 tahoe[sm=jawdrop.gif] and have had this similar problem since day one. sometimes it won't load the disk and says "error". i eject and put it back in and it plays.... if i'm listening to a disk when i park and shut the engine off, when i restart the vehicle the disk won't play. no error message, it just won't play. I eject and put it back in and it plays. i've just been living with it all this time and it hasn't seemed to hurt anything or get any worse. [sm=smiley33.gif]

An mp3 disk is a disk that you burn on you PC that holds mp3 files. You burn the mp3s to a normal CDR. The music is compressed in mp3 form, so you can hold *roughly* 10 albums on one disk instead of one. The Shakers are better than normal CD players (or should I say more feature rich?) because they can play mp3 formatted disks.
