best gears and locker
Im saving some money and i am planning to upgrade my rear end internals, winter here almost reguires a locker. I want a locker and 3.73's, and i have a few questions. Do i need a tuner to calibrate the speedo to correct for the 3.73 ratio? Who is the BEST gear company?, WHO makes the best locker?, regardless of price because I only plan on doing this mod once.

RE: best gears and locker
For a street car, you may not be happy with a Locker rear-end. It is not forgiving when taking turns, as the inner wheel will want to spin at the same speed as the faster outer wheel. Rear-end clunked and popped around alot. I would recommend a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) instead (even for snow). There are several units out there. I hear good things about the Auburn unit, but they are more expensive. Perhaps someone else can make a recommendation based upon their experience. But my experience driving a car with a Locker was not a happy one.

Just a quick question, I was wanting to get rearend work eventually and I
wanted to ask with a LSD do you still do a two wheel peel? What exactly is the difference
between a LSD and a Locker?

A Ford Trac-Lok is the most inexpensive route and will hold up to what 99% of what the people on this forum will throw at it... Heck, I pounded on mine with close to 500ft/lbs... have been abusing it for 30,000 miles... and it still is working just dandy! LOL!
