Default I really don't like the shifter in my v6 stang..Any way to fix this?

Shifting is not smooth at all, sometimes I can't get it into a gear (I have to use force) and so on.

Is there any way I can fix this without messing up the transmission (I talked to one mechanic and he said he wouldn't recommend getting a short shifter on a 06 v6 stang)

Also, a place where I could buy it from would help

thanks a lot

ps if I get the Hurst Shifter are there any short throws that look stock, I like the clean stock looking shifter, it completes the ensemble on the dashboard.

I believe there is a kit by Roush or pro-shifter that leaves the stock shifter in place. Hurst does sell black shifter *****, though you would still have the chrome stick. I'm curious why your mechanic said not to get a short-shifter for your car. It is a simple install and improves shifts dramtically.

Can you point as to where I could buy one from?

Also, how better is it really? I like smooth quick shifting, if you ever driven a g35 coupe or a bmw m3 those are amazing.

thanks

I think the Steeda shifter here is the simplest kit you'll find.

I installed one of these a month or so ago, and while I am generally happy with the results, it wasn't necessarily the easiest install I have ever done. I have noticed that Steeda also sells this kit pre-installed on a factory shift rail, so that you don't have to disassemble your original one.

If I were doing this again, that's the route I would choose - it would be a half hour or 45 minute install, and you would always have the factory one to go back to if you wanted.

Here's the write-up on my install:

Good Luck!
