Default To those with the Afe stage 1 cai

I think i decided to get this cai without the tune but im still debating to get this or the tunable induction combo for double the price. But i was wondering if the people who got the AFE cai with out the tune noticed a big differnse and if u got rid of ne of the lag or do you just get rid of it with the tune?

if you are auto definately go with the tune/ti package. If you are manual...its less important but id say still get the package.

+1 If you can get the combo you will notice much more of a difference then with only an intake.

and the intake will not do very much for the throttle lag but the tuner will decrease it significantly.

cool thanks. How hard is to do the tune though? Im not very good when it comes to cars and putting stuff on it. Is it really user friendly and if i need it to go in for repair or nething is it hard to put it back to factory settings. And yes i have a automatic

All you do for the tuner is plug it into the computer and it takes about 5mns....I believe you just choose the tune you want to upload and let it sit for like 5mns.....And no the tuner keeps the stock settings so all you do it reverse the tune the same way you changed it so its pretty simple.

I got the AFE stage 1 before I got my tuner and it made a difference in power and response, but after I got the tune it improved even more. If you are considering a package and are worried about resetting to factory tune for service purposes I'd make sure you get a CAI that doesn't require a tune. There isn't more than a 2hp difference (at the wheels) between any of the CAI's whether they require a tune or not so I personally don't see a reason to spend the extra $ on a new intake tube when the restriction mostly comes from the airbox anyway. This is my opinion but is backed up by Doug at Bamachips; he told me replacing my AFE with something like a Demolet or other tunable CAI would not be worth the money and only give maybe 2rwhp difference.
I also saw a thread yesterday from Justin (a tuner) that compared several CAI's on a dyno with factory tube and aftermarket tubes and there was virtually no difference, even with bigger diameter tubes.

How much of a difference did it make with the power and response. With the AFE without a tune?

You make about 12hp with the intake and it will slightly improve the throttle lag...Only way to get the throttle lag to be almost gone is to get a tuner.
