Default Exhaust Help

I'm thinking about finnaly modding my car, and my first move that I have in mind is adding a nice deep growling exhaust. What will I need to do. Do I need a full catback system. Wht are my options. In theend I want something that isn't very costly, and not very cheap. I also really want to get that v8 growly sound if possible.

Well you dont need to go duals unless you want to, a new muffler is all you need to add to get a nice sound. I dont know how much you plan to spend so ill say some brands you could get. 1st of all youll never really get a v8 sound, youll just get a real badass v6 sound. The biggest sound that ive heard is the MRT Aerotourbine axel back and that runs $225 i think. Otherwise something alittle bit cheaper but still sounds good is a GT Take Off exhaust which comes with both mufflers if you decide to go duals sometime. They usually run between $50-$80. Go to ebay and search 2005 Mustang Exhaust and they should be on there. I have a GT Take Off and its a nice exhaust for the price. If you have the money i would go with either an MRT, Flowmaster or Magnaflow.

Some of the guys are doing cat back duals with an H pipe and then aftermarket mufflers. Judging by the sound clips (have you listened to those yet, go to that category and listen to the various entries), there is a way to get somewhat of a V-8 sound (sort of).

I did the GT take off and inserted a K&N drop in air filter. The car runs well, mileage is better and it sounds great. This is a BIG V-6, but you will never get it to sound like a GT.

i think the gt specific sound is partly because it's an oddfire engine which means you arent gonna ever get that sound out of our engines. You can get close tho. The loudest is the mrt. That's what i have and some people think its the gt from the sound. Only get the mrt if you like really loud exhausts tho. Otherwise, the magnaflow sounds nice and deep, and the gt take-offs are pretty nice.

/\ +1 /\
there is no what to get that v8 sound...the best way to get the closest possibe is to upgrate the exhaust AND intake.
i went with the MRT. that is one bad a$$ muffler. great tone, amazing performance, and better gas mileage!
the only problem with getting a new muffler is the break-in period.
after a few hundred miles...youll be speechless.
