Default Aftermarket driveshaft

I am a newbee so bar with me. Is there a definitive advantage, over the weight saving, in swapping for an aftermarket drive shaft like the on here :

More HP? More torque? Thanks

No not really...The upgraded driveshaft is really only needed if your driving at like 120mph+ or have alot of power under the hood. It wont bring added HP or TQ just is better then the stock driveshaft so you dont bust it driving your car hard.

The above link is now a sticky in the 4.0L drivetrain section, and it explains exactly what could happen to the driveshaft on the early 2005's that did not have retaining clips on the u-joint caps.

you won't get alot but you will get some, and the more mods you do, the more you will get from it because you will really gain a percentage. The saved weight doesn't help much in weight of the car prespective, but there is alot less rotating mass, so you will gain a few horses.

you don't technically gain any hp, it just puts more of the crank horsepower to the wheels.

I do believe one sixer member here contacted a local driveline shop in his area for a new custom shaft.
I think it was about $100 cheaper, but it really all depends on if you can find a shop that can make you a dependable
piece for that good of a price.
