Default lifted 1968 mustang

Hey has anyone out there bought a leaf sping kit that raises the rearend up about 1.5 inches? for a 1968 mustang? I have never seen that before wondering if anyone has pictures or thoughts on doing that, Thanks for any help. I am at the stage of total restoration of my stang so nows the time to do it. Thanks again

Andrew

We use to install longer shackles to raise the back of the cars, or air shocks. Seems like there was a kit that basically added an extra leaf to the springs though. Sorry Buster_22, but it's been a while. The air shocks or extra leaf are going to make the back ride a lot stiffer though. I had air shocks for a while and did a lot of bouncing up and down in the seat, but it did let the back fenders clear the 10-inch wide tires I was running and it looks cleaner than shackles. If you are going through the expense of restoration now anyways, then I would recommend going ahead and buy a new set of rear springs. Yours are most likely sagging, and the rubber bushings are probably deteriorating. New rear springs are less than $100/pair, and you can get poly bushings for a firmer ride. Once installed, if you don't like the height, you can always add a leaf or two per side using longer u-bolts.

That's good advice, don't jury-rig it do it right. Check out Year One for lots of early Mustang parts.
