XCal2 is the way to go IMO...got mine from Brenspeed, couldn't be happier. Very competitive pricing too if that's what you want to compare. And they're a "Top 20 Tuner" according to SCT. I got the 87, 91, and 93 tunes. Their specialty is the 93 tune, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Great info guys this helps alot. Ok another noob question. For the 93 Octane tune do you run premium gas, 91 octane? Is 93 even available to any gas stations? I have not seen it before???
I've seen everything from 85 to 93 octane. You get three generic tunes, 87, 91 and 93 octane. Retuning takes less time than it takes to fill up at the pump so you can easily adjust your tune to the gas you have available. I do this regularly, like when I'm doing a road trip I'll use 87 but when I want to play I'll get what's available, usually 91 and just retune while I'm filling up.
If you don't have 93 in your area, you might ask your tuner for the 87, 91 and a more radical 91 tune. They can set your car to shift harder if it's an auto, or get more aggressive with timing, etc.
If you don't have 93 gas in your area get a tune for the highest octane available. As far as the "who's the best tuner" argument, everybody thinks their tuner is the best. The truth is the top guys are all good, go for best support and price. Doug at Bamachips is a good guy and takes good care of his customers. Stick with the X-cal though imo.

The proof is in the pudding..... Alternative Auto 14.6 and 14.3 Boss244 fastest NA autos on the site. If you want you can watch my vid and see how a properly tuned auto shifts gears. Good Luck
LX200 as you can see i said NA and on the site. I do get your point but my vote still goes to Alternative.. until proven otherwise.
2006Ride ..any of the major tuners (bamachips, VMP,evolution or alternative) will work just fine for you..just remember to stick with the xcal2 as Beaustang said. Gas ratings vary from place to place so get the highest octane posible and stick to a station that you can trust.

That may be your vote until proven otherwise.... then say "I like my Alternative tune", NOT "Alternative is best for autos". Doing so is a disservice to members here who ask questions. You only know that your your car, with YOUR MODS, is the fastest car YOU KNOW ABOUT. The tune can't be separated from the mods, which can't be separated from the driver, which can't be separated from the ambient conditions, which can't be separated from the track conditions when the runs were made.
At the end of the day, you have no proof. Just anecdotal evidence. And we've been over this SOOOOOOOO many times....
I think I read this in 5.0, but I'm not 100% sure. There was an small article soliciting tuners to submit tunes for a tune-off in a future issue. This could be a great article if the response is good and if they include a category for the V6.
I think I have decided on Evolution performance. I guess the tunes I will get are, performance 87, performance 91, & torque 91. Does that sound right? Or maybe they can recommend a tune for me.

Proves absolutely nothing. Are we going to start this crap again?
At least we have timeslips to back up the claim. That has to count for something .If there is a better tune out there ...that makes my car faster ...hell ...i will buy it,but for know, the fastest Autos run tunes from alternative you cant dispute that.
yes i can, rygen is tuned by powerhouse and scrming is tuned by mrt
but then again, my mower is tuned by hondata, so they are obviously best. none of you can even claim to be able to hang with my 7 sec mower and that's on grass tires, no slicks here.
OWNED.

I got interested in Alt Auto and decided to make a call to get more info. Nice folks, but they let me know that they are a strictly local operation now. They won't ship tunes. Unless you are in Michigan, this isn't an option.
