Add On Perfromance questions..
Hi all,
This is my first post here.
In Oct I became an owner of a Redfire '07 Mustang Premium V-6 auto..
I am one happy guy. A Great drive. I will post a few pics in the future.
It perfroms great and is an impressive V-6 but I am considering 3 upgrades.
Two are for the drivetrain. Cold port Inductions Pkge and Shorty Headers..
One is a rear sway bar..
Questions:
1.. I read that the Cold Port Pkg comes with a HandHeld Computer Calibrations Device.
Seems like the upgrade will retune ignition and fuel injection timing and may void warranty.
Is it worth this trouble for 15 hp.
2.. The Shorty Stainless or Ceramic coated Headers. I guess the best method is Headers to dual exhaust.
It seems that this would involve some body work in the rear to accomodate the second Exhaust pipe under the rear bumper.
So can these be run successfully into a single larger pipe and Dual tip muffler or will this defeat the performance I could gain?
I like the idea of the headers but I want the pipe or pipes to look right coming from the rear of the Mustang.
Feedback for opinions and from those who have actually done the Mod.
Thanks

RE: Add On Perfromance questions..
I've done them both to my car. A cold air intake (go with the C&L) and SCT X-Cal tuner from Doug at Bamachips will give you the biggest bang for the bucks. The exhaust is nice, but will pick up far fewer gains than the tune. You won't believe the difference a good 92 octance performance tune will change your car. After that, change your gears to 3.73s with an LSD. Then finally, go for a true dual exhaust system. Welcome to the forum!

If your worried about warranty after you tune it you can retune the comp. to stock tune and install the original intake in 15mns before you take it in. Its a good investment it frees up alot and especially helps the auto's .

RE: Add On Perfromance questions..
ur not gonna gain a whole lot from a dual exhaust on this car unless you're running heads, cams, 20lbs of boost and NEED the extra outlet. Then you might gain a decent amount. But even so on stock, you won't gain a whole lot. You'll gain more from the cold air induction (CAI) system with the calibration computer. The calibration tool does void the warranty. But, you can put the computer back to stock before u go to the dealer. The dealer can tell if the computer has been messed with but resetting the computer to stock also happens when the battery dies so all u gotta say is oh i left my lights on the other night and a friend jumped my car or something. Oh yea, worth the trouble for the CAI? You're gonna take prolly 15 mins to put on the CAI and about a good 2 hours to put on those headers
