Well The day finally came!
My X cal3 Tuner and C&L cold air intake finally arrived. I had a few issues, Doug sent me the 93 tunes instead of the 91 tunes, all was sorted with an email, within 3 minutes i had the new tunes on my laptop, but my X cal didn't want to work. i connected with SCT remote assistance and had it fixed in a jiffy.
First step i took, was to install my new tune. I started off with the 91 Race tune.
So go ahead and plug in your SCT tuner into your ODB II port, located in the drivers side foot well:
Once plugged in, the screen should illuminate and it will make a noise.
Follow the steps on the screen, remember to have the radio off and all other accessories as it may drain your battery.
Now your tune is installed, its time to install the Intake (Dont start the car until both the tune, and the CAI are installed)
Make sure you have everything:
1. Connect the new metal air hose to the MAF housing. (Long pipe to short)
2. Pop the hood.
3. Remove the sensor from the old air hose:
4. Remove the MAF sensor. (Pull the red tab toward the car and push on the middle, and slide it out BE CAREFUL!)
5. Remove the old air hose from the throttle body Use an 8mm socket or a screwdriver and loosen the clip and it should pop right off:
6. Remove the stock air box. There is a 10 mm screw on the right side of it. dont lose the screw.
7. Remove the stock intake but dont trash it!
8. Remove the MAF Unit from the old intake. using the provided torx T-20 bit.
9 + 10: CAREFULLY remove the MAF Unit from the stock intake and slide it into your new MAF housing.
Using the screws provided, screw the MAF unit so its tight but not over tight. (Do Not Use Factory Screws From Stock, You May Damage The Thread)
11. Slide the new metal air hose onto the throttle body, you may need to loosen the clips.
make sure both the throttle body and the intake have an even amount of rubber sleeve on them, you dont want this popping off. Dont tighten it down yet.
12. Twist the MAF housing so the plug will line up without stretching the wire.
13. Loosen the clamp round the neck of your new air filter and place the black plastic shroud round it, slide the neck of the filter onto the end of your MAF housing, make sure the clip is in the middle and tighten this down lightly with a screwdriver.
14. Using the original screw from the old box, screw the black plastic shroud down so its rigid.
15. Now, tighten all the metal clamps down so they are firm, you need an 8mm socket for the filter and near the throttle body. And a 10mm socket used for the MAF housing.
16. Place the sensor with the green clip on your new intake. (I gave mine a clean with a dry rag first just to keep the dirt out.)
17. Clip the MAF sensor back onto your New intake and slide the red clip in away from the car.
18. Remove the plastic on your new filter
19. Stand back and enjoy!!!
*****SIDE NOTES*****
Keep all your stock things. if you need to get a smog test, you will have to throw the stock air box back on and reflash your car to stock.
Before closing the hood, make sure all tools are out from under the hood (Duh?)
Start her up and take her for a test drive, trust me you will burn some rubber.
Bring her back and check the new intake again incase a hose pops off or something.
Dont mind the Red X on my hand, its not a cut, i went to a concert last night and im 17 so i cant drink so they did that lol.
I would like to thank Doug from Bamachips.com For his great customer service.
and the tech dept. at SCT for there help.
My tunes i order were:
87 Perf.
91 Race
91 Torque.
