I'll try and post some pics in a little while. I think the passenger side hangs a little lower, maybe 2 inches below the top of the cutout...
I've also seen another V6 running around with dual exhaust on a stock bumper, as well. It was in traffic, so I didn't study it too closely, but it looked to be the same

huh... Mine never got cut, nor did the shop recommend that I have it cut. It seems to be just fine as it is, maybe they hung my pipes a bit lower to compensate?
I've seen this in person, the bumper should definetly be cut, it looks terrible having a pipe hang below your bumper LOL

Lol, well I took a good look, and there's definitely a gap below the cutout. I don't really spend much time down that low on my car, so I never really paid it much attention. Good thing I need to replace the bumper anyway. (parking lot mishap, Seattle drivers are SO courteous, didn't leave me a note or anything!) Guess after I replace the bumper, I'll go to the exhaust shop and see if they can raise my pipes up to where they should be.

Muffler swap is very easy and a good beginner project. A manual is p/n FI-7849-R. GT M/T Muff FI-7849-R 4R3Z-5520-LM
A CAI w/o a tune is just a dress up item. And they sometimes end up requiring a tune anyway even when they say they won't. Get a CAI w/ tune to totlally wake up your car! The C&L is very nice but expensive and doesn't add any performance advantage - unless you plan to add forced induction later down the road. If you want to dress up the engine compartment the C&L is a nice upgrade. VMP Performance offers a CAI kit & tune package that keeps your stock intake hose and just upgrades the MAF housing. You'll save a hundred or so bucks since it omits the aluminum C&L tube. They also offer the same package with a GT take off muffler. You can get a better deal on the muffler though if you hunt around for it your self. Another good begging mod is to upgrade to polyurethane sway bar bushings. If you don't have a rear sway bar then get one. GT take offs are a popular mod for front and rear.
Happy modding!
+1 on the 34mm front and 20mm rear GT sways if you dont have the PonyPackage with the 18mm rear sway bar. Poly bushings are a must. Search 'prothane' on the www.mossmuscle.com web site.
Or here is a post on GT take-off dual installation with pictures.
Highly recommended for those on a budget.
The new FRPP V6 dual exhaust package is nice but $699 or so.
And last, no CAI that does not require a tune. Its $$ thrown away.
Get a CAI that comes with a tuner and custom tunes ForTheWin.
C&L rocks along with b a m a c h i p s.

wow thank you so much everyone!!! I am going to investigate more on the exhaust, but definitely going to go ahead with the CAI. I really appreciate all the links you all have added for me too. Should I do the exhaust and CAI at the same time, or is it ok to do the CAI first?
As for exhaust, I was just checking out the Borlas axle back for the V6 (PN 11751)

I do have the pony package, so do I check the above out or am I ok with what i have?
with the pony package only diff is the rear bar is 20mm not 18mm I'd say you are fine. If you want to save money I'd go with just a single gt take off muffler buy the pair run just the one for a while I did sounds good and improves gas millage about 2mpg. I switched over to duals this winter and while it looks cooler I dont hear a big difference in sound other than a little bit of drone around 1500rpms (not a good thing). I've seen the frpp dual exhaust for around 400. I have $113 in my dual exhaust. but running the single gt muffler paid for the $40 in muffler cost in gas money so really only have $73 in duals. The single gt will fit without cutting your bumper and only takes 30 min to bolt on all you need is a socket wrench. I rachet wrench makes getting the one bolt out easier but not necessary. good luck with your 2009
if you go with poly bushings moss has the best price talk to david. make sure you get the 18mm for your rear bar. Also when you take the old bushings out drill the rubber out in the dog bone shapped link makes getting the metal bushing out soooo much easier.

Reason: forgot bushings
I definitely wanna save money, but I want the best possible sound I can get! I dont wanna sound like a rice burner, and I do know what that terrible drone is, my friend has a GT with macs on it, and man, that drone stinks!
When I talked to these guys here at Muffler Works, they told me to just get a magnaflow muffler, it would cost 100 bucks, and 80 to install..I have no clue what it sounds like and dont wanna trust just anyone!
I would definetley go with the C&L and Tuner it is the best mod i have ever done, its like a whole new car!
I have the combo kit and i did a write up on how to install it http://mustangforums.com/forum/4-0l-...with-pics.html
Very easy!
as for the exhaust, the GT single takeoff muffler is a failsafe!
its not too loud or weak it sounds Burley!
heres a sound clip of mine:
